Our extended network of experienced affiliates includes access to engineering, prototyping & manufacturing facilities, intellectual property (IP discovery, development and strategy), legal experts and accounting / financial services.
Andreas has been a start-up tech entrepreneur for the last 20 years and co-founded and/or played leading roles in a number of Calgary-based companies in the biotech, lab instrumentation and health IT sectors. While he’s a recovering PhD scientist (Microbiology & Biochemistry) he now mostly works at the interface of business executive and science/technical responsibilities. Andreas is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
John is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality, Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) through the American Society for Quality; Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) through the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society; and RQAP-GLP certification through the Society of Quality Assurance. He has extensive experience with submissions to the FDA and Health Canada as well as audits in the areas of medical device manufacturing, drug and device establishments and clinical trial sites. Other certifications include ISO 13485_: 2016 Certificates in AU – Management Systems Auditing v2.0; MD – Medical Devices Quality Management Systems v2.0; and TL – Leading Management Systems Audit Teams v2.0.

Every client is different, and as such, we will always strive to offer the solution that best fits the client’s needs and business ambitions coupled with FUEL’s objective to create win-win scenarios for all parties involved.

First, by offering straight-forward comprehensive consulting services at market rate.
Second, and by far our most preferred and effective way of helping, through active participation of FUEL in technology / company development and ownership as well as facilitating outside equity investment into the opportunity.
WE BELIEVE THAT THE BEST WAY WE CAN ADD VALUE
is through our active participation in the company / technology coupled with our role to help secure outside financial support (equity, grants etc.).

Is relevant IP already in existence (or is there at least a credible path towards that)?
Is there a significant market / business opportunity?
Are we a good fit (skills, personal) with the existing team / technology?
We look forward to working with various types of clients who may have different visions for their future involvement with the project.
Some clients (such as busy medical doctors) may want to have a fairly hands off approach and do not want to be involved in a full-fledged commercial operation. Such scenarios could include licensing (royalties) or even selling the developed technology to an entity that is already established on the market. Other clients may be looking towards becoming startup entrepreneurs themselves. We can help with all of these scenarios and in the case of aspiring startup entrepreneurs even provide mentorship through the whole process.
